Camps
Summer camps are a great way for
both novice and experienced players
to develop their skills. Novice
players have an opportunity to learn
basic skills and get more scrimmage
and game experience than they might
on the school team. Experienced
players learn advanced techniques
from the best coaches and players.
Most of the more well-known camps
are in California (Stanford
Water Polo Camp, Water
Polo Camp of Champions at Long
Beach State, Nike
Water Polo Camps offered in
several locations, etc.). To search
for camps in your area, try using
the following camp websites: localsportscamps.com
and scfederation.com
Clubs
School teams usually have the men
play in the fall and the women in
the winter. Most commonly, club
teams play in the summer and some
play in the spring as well. Because
club teams are not directly affiliated
with a school, they usually cost
money to join. Consider picking
up the membership fees for an athlete
as a gift.
Clinics
USA Water Polo offers Program for
Athletes and Coaches Education (PACE)
free and priviate clinics. Visit
USA
Water Polo for information on
these clinics. The private programs
can be expensive, but you may be
able to have other team parents
chip in for the clinic for the entire
team.
Membership
USA Water Polo, the governing body
of water polo in the United States,
offers memberships with benefits
including a subscription to their
quartly magazine and more. Purchase
a USA Water Polo membership
as a gift.
