Structure
There are currently 32 teams in the league, half of which are in the American Football Conference (AFC) and the other half in the National Football Conference (NFC). Within both conferences, there are four divisions (North, South, East, and West) that are comprised of four individual teams each. As a fan, you should be familiar with all of the city names and their associated teams. For example, when you hear "San Francisco," the word "49ers" should pop into your head. Additionally, you should be aware of the other teams in your conference, as your own team's record in relation to the other teams in your conference has playoff consequences. Click here for a list of NFL teams by conference.
